I'm about to embark on a new photography project. It's called "Seamless Beauty: Turning Your Scars into Beauty Marks".

The project is in collaboration with Dr. Jean Robey, a Phoenix area physician who, in turn, is also an artist.

As with my Freckles Project, I enjoy taking that which some in our culture would consider "not attractive", and showing the beauty that resides therein. It's often just a matter of perspective and how one views the world. The goal will to photograph people who have scars on their bodies. The scars may be the result of surgery, injuries or disease. People usually wish to hide their scars, but we will be showing them. Hopefully under a new light. Showing how they may have become a part of defining the subject. A part of what has become beautiful about them.

Dr. Robey puts it like this: The scar has closed. It has healed. It's now seamless. It is now a beauty mark. Therefore, the project title is "Seamless Beauty: Turning Your Scars into Beauty Marks".
