Multiple workshops are being offered for beginners as well as those who have been shooting for awhile.
A brand new workshop has been introduced - Beginning Portrait Lighting With Studio Strobes. This is your chance to learn the basics of using studio strobes to create amazing portraits. You don't need to own your own strobes, as you will use the instructors equipment (bring your DSLR camera, though).

You Don't Have To Be A Professional Model To Wow Them
Clarissa is not a professional model, although that is hard to believe when you see her images.
She is a mom that, like all moms, wants to look beautiful. When we planned out what she wanted from a photo shoot, we decided on images that had a beauty and fashion flair to them, as well as some that took on a Couture Glamour look. And we were not going to show too much skin. Anyone that thinks you have to show off a lot of skin to look beautiful has a misunderstanding of beauty and sensuality.
Which ever type of images you want, be it Fashion, Beauty, Couture Glamour, or Boudoir, you can have them done in many different ways. They can be edgy or soft, or they can be very sexy or softly sensual. You can show more skin or less skin. Regardless, you can be made to look beautiful within the style that you are comfortable with.

Freckles Project Update
Here are a few images of Rachel Logan from my Freckles Project.
Rachel is a local model that agreed to participate in my Freckles Project, an effort to show the beauty of freckled faces. One of the difficult parts of photographing freckled faces is that most people with freckles don't like them and therefore don't want to be photographed. Which, by the way, is the very reason I am doing the project. I find freckles quite beautiful and would like to see more people with freckles adopt that point of view. But I guess it's a little like people with curly hair want straight hair, and visa versa. We humans always seem to want the opposite of what we have.
Another difficulty in photographing freckles is that, in order to make the freckles stand out, it's best to not wear make up that covers them up! Sounds logical, but just how many women do you think want to be photographed without make up? They find it hard to believe that they can still be made to look beautiful. It takes a very self-confident and courageous woman to pose without make up covering her freckles. Rachel is one of those women. And she clearly is a beautiful woman.
Fine Art on Monday
We will be doing classic fine art imagery depicting the conflict between beauty and what is seen as ugly. Andrea plays the role of beauty, as she always does so well, and mud plays the role of, well, ugly mud. We will show how beauty still exists in an ugly environment. Beauty is a choice made by each person.

I'm excited about shooting this concept with Andrea. She is always amazing in front of the lens, but she becomes magical when she faces this kind of challenge. The concept is her idea and we will build it together. We have a vision with a goal and will see where creativity takes us by the end of the day.

Does Beauty Exist After 40?
For a few decades now our culture has worshiped youth. We worship it even to the point of believing that beauty only exists in the young.
How unfortunate it is that we can be so shallow in this perception. Beauty exists at all ages, but we have to open our eyes and minds so that we can see it.
I photograph women to create beautiful images for them. Regardless of their age. Be it 20 or 40 or 60 or 80 or whatever. It doesn't mean that you are not beautiful just because you are not 20 years old and can't see your beauty when you look in the mirror.
Dove Soap has created a series of videos on this topic. This one particular Dove Soap video addresses the age/beauty factor. It's worth the watch, whatever your age.
