Exquisite Ballet

If you've kept up with my blog, you know that I enjoy photographing dancers. Especially ballet dancers. The training that dancers receive means that they already know how to make their bodies look good in front of an audience. Or a camera, which is just another type of audience. Everyone has heard the term "ballet hands" and knows what it is without me explaining it. Well, it's true. Ballerinas know how to position their hands in the most beautiful way. I am continually amazed at the beauty created by those that are passionate about the art form.

Real Beauty Is Not Hard to Find

I have posted this video link before, but it merits another go around.

Dove Soap created a fantastic video about how women perceive their beauty. They report that "Women are their own worst beauty critics. In fact, only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful." How sad that fact is.

I photograph a lot of women with the purpose of making them look beautiful. I have found that regardless of how naturally beautiful a woman is, many can't see their beauty when they look in the mirror. They focus on one or more things about themselves that they don't like and become obsessed about it. It then becomes the definition of how beautiful they are, or, as most see it, they aren't. And it is usually something very minor. Something that almost everyone else would never consider a negative. But they let it define them. It changes their self-perception and, as a result, their happiness.

Off Camera Flash Workshop

Camera Workshop THIS SATURDAY - NOVEMBER 2

Have you noticed that when you use your flash attached to the top of your camera, the images just don't look that great? The light looks very flat and the images are, well, boring. The same is true for the little flash built into your camera. That's why most people say "I don't like flash". It looks bad.

So how do people use flash and their pictures look so great? It's not hard, but you have to know how to use your flash. You have to GET IT OFF YOUR CAMERA and use it from different angles rather than sitting on the hot shoe on the top of your camera.

This workshop will teach you how to make professional pictures using your speedlight flash off of your camera. You will be amazing at the difference you will see in your photography. A whole new world of photography will open up. Personally, I would have to say that nothing I ever did made as much a difference in my photography.

This workshop is for phtographers with DSLR cameras and a speedlight flash. Eventually, you may need to acquire a radio trigger for your flash, but if you don't have one yet, a trigger will be available for you to use at the workshop.

This workshop is for DSLR cameras, not Point-and-Shoot cameras.

The Freckles Project at Ron Brewer Images, Surprise AZ

I will be photographing a number of people that have freckles over the next few months. Lots of freckles!

I don't have freckles, but I've noticed over the years that having freckles seems to be hard. Most people with freckles think that freckles are different and therefore bad. I've also noticed that you don't often see freckles in the media. You rarely find a model that has many freckles. I think that is because people with many freckles believe they can't be models because they aren't attractive. People with freckles seem to view them kind of like a permanent acne. I see freckles differently; freckles can define a person in a beautiful way. Freckles can enhance your beauty. And that's exactly what I intend to show in my Freckles Project.

So, if you have a lovely freckled complexion, then you are just the person that I am looking for. In fact, the more freckles the better. There is no charge for participating in the project and I will provide retouched digital images in exchange for borrowing your freckles for a short time.
